| In developing countries including India informal sector plays a very important role in providing employment to ever increasing workforce in income generating activities. There are more than 400 million workers in this sector and this establishes importance of the sector in Indian economy. Also there are more than 4000 handicraft / handloom cluster in informal sector. | ![]() |
| Current crisis faced by this sector is threatening the livelihoods of these millions of people, a large proportion of who live in abject poverty. These micro-producers in informal sector are faced with loss of their traditional markets. It is not possible to formalize all activities of this sector and bring them under regulatory and legislative control as this will require huge infrastructural and institutional framework. Still Govt and other multi lateral agencies has realized the importance of this sector and runs many programme for competitiveness and capacity building of the enterprises in this sector. |

We have worked in many handloom and handicraft clusters in informal sector for different type of projects/interventions like Diagnostic analysis, infusing ICT, technology up gradation, capacity building of the workforce and linking them to national and international markets. |
Clusterkraft implemented CDP at number of Informal sectors including Brass Products Cluster, Wood Carving Cluster, Glassware and Bangles Cluster, Wooden Toy Cluster, Metal Bell Cluster and Handloom Cluster.
