Business Development Services (BDS) Programme

ACDS is facilitating Implementing Business Development Services (BDS) for MSMEs. The Project is steered by SIDBI, supported by World Bank, GTZ, KFW and Government of India and funded by DFID. The project aims in creation of good market conditions for the working of different BDS in the cluster.
Major long term objectives are as follows:
• Facilitating and stimulating pull and push factors of BDS especially to work on embryonic and underserved BDS

• To work on knowledge gaps and quality of BDS available in the cluster

• Creation of market for BDS in the cluster
• Evolving meso level platform for BDS in the cluster
• Making BDS a commercial activity

The project is being implemented at 3 clusters:

• The project diagnostic was based on surveys of the firms and the BDS providers in the clusters.

• Based on the diagnostic recommendations, implementation of the project has begun in the form of sensitisation programmes, some pilot activities to augment BDS supplies in critical areas, and training programmes of small and micro firms simultaneously linking them with the retail chains for marketing.

• Upgradation of their economic status in the form of incomes and employment is one of the major objectives of the project.
